MORROW, Ga. – As she prepares for the final race of her
Clayton State career, Clayton State’s Allison Kreutzer has
one big award already in tow for a brilliant 2008 season.
The Laker senior from Lilburn, Ga., was honored earlier this week
by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
as the Division II Southeast Region Athlete of the Year. She is one
of eight region winners honored by the U.S. Track & Field and
Cross Country Coaches Association.
Kreutzer came back strong this season after missing all of last
season with a foot injury. She was a perfect 7-for-7 in her
individual races, winning both the Peach Belt Conference
championships and the Division II Southeast Regional over a week
ago. She became the first ever Clayton State runner, either men or
women, to win a regional championship.
Kreutzer is aiming to complete a very distinguished career at
Clayton State this weekend at the NCAA Division II National
Championships in Slippery Rock, Penn. She finished second in the
2004 NCAA Division II National Championships and 10th in 2005. Both
of those finished garnered her Division II All-American honors.
