COLUMBUS - The 6th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team won their third-straight regular season Peach Belt Conference title, sweeping Francis Marion 7-0 on Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the Walden Tennis Center.
Columbus State (19-3, 9-0 PBC) went undefeated for the fourth time in conference play as they locked down their seventh straight 7-0 sweep.
The Lady Cougars gave up just six games in doubles with Marleen Tilgner and Luise Sachs teaming up at the top spot en route to a 6-2 win. Beatriz Lopez and Noa Davico would grab a 6-1 victory at second while 40th-ranked Candice Paya and Natalia Kattah Paz made it a sweep winning 6-3 at third doubles.
CSU would go to work and pound their way past the Patriots in singles play with all six courts being won in straight sets.
At the top spot it was 32nd-ranked Tilgner who dominated her way to a 6-1, 6-0 point while 33rd-ranked Lopez came out on top 6-1, 6-1 at second.
Paya would completely blank her opponent 6-0, 6-0 with 63rd-ranked Sachs grabbing a 7-5, 6-3 point at fourth singles.
On the last two courts Davico would secure another point with a 6-1, 6-1 scoreline as Paz rounded out the sweep coming out victorious 6-2, 6-0 at sixth.
Columbus State wrapped up their conference regular season play but still have one more match to play on Monday, April 15 against Emory. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Walden Tennis Center.
