Women’s Tennis Player of the Week: Marleen Tilgner, Columbus State

Tilgner went 6-0 in all matches last week, playing at #1 singles and doubles.  The sophomore from Seevetal, Germany, beat 63rd-ranked Adrienne Bofinger of #12 North Georgia 7-6, 5-7, 11-9 and then swept Young Harris’ Oriana Labaqui 6-4, 6-0.  In doubles, she partnered with Luise Sachs in all three matches, beating the 50th-ranked UNG team of Holly Bennett and Vaishale Jorge 6-3. Currently ranked #34 in the nation in singles, Tilgner is 16-2 in singles play this season, tied for the highest winning percentage of any player in the PBC.  She is 12-2 at #1 singles and 5-1 against nationally-ranked opponents.
