Women’s Tennis Player of the Week: Georgia Vitale, Columbus State

Vitale went 4-0 in combined singles and doubles play as the Cougars clinched at least a share of the PBC regular-season championship.  The senior from Pordenone, Italy, beat Shorter’s Anastasia Jovicic 6-0, 6-1 and 74th-ranked Holly Bennett of #29 North Georgia 6-1, 6-0 in singles play. She partnered with Marlee Tilgner at #3 doubles to beat Shorter’s Overby/Duggan 8-0 and UNG’s Bofinger/Zuddy 8-4. Ranked #3 in the nation, CSU is now 17-1 overall and 8-0 in league play.  Vitale is second among all #3 singles players in the PBC with a 9-2 record; she is 7-0 against PBC opponents and 16-1 in doubles play.
