Apr 29, 2009 Six PBC Women's Tennis Teams Advance to NCAA Tournament Six Peach Belt Conference women's tennis teams learned on
Wednesday that they will have the opportunity to complete for a
national championship as the NCAA released the tournament field.
Armstrong Atlantic State and Francis Marion will serve as hosts for
the Southeast regional May 7-9, with the winner of each
sub-regional advancing to the National Finals May 13-16 in
Altamonte Springs, Fla.
Armstrong Atlantic State, the defending national champions and
currently ranked #3 in the nation, will serve as a regional host
once again. In Savannah, the Lady Pirates will face the winner of
the Carson-Newman/Tusculum game. The winner of that match will face
either Clayton State or Augusta State in the regional final.
Clayton State and AUgusta State both received byes in the first
round, as did AASU, and will meet on Friday, May 8.
Francis Marion serves as the other regional host and will face the
winner of Thursday's Erskine/Mt. Olive matchup. The other Friday
match will be Columbus State taking on Georgia College & State
University.
Game times for all regional matches have yet to be announced.
