Columbus State, Flagler Ranked in Preseason Women’s Soccer Top 25

KANSAS CITY, MO – Columbus State and Flagler will begin the 2018 women's soccer season as nationally-ranked teams as United Soccer Coaches released their preseason top 25 on Tuesday. Columbus State is ranked #12 in the preseason poll while Flagler is #21.

Columbus State won their fifth straight PBC regular-season championship in 2017 and finished the year with a 16-4 overall mark. The Cougars also made their 12thstraight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the region championship round.  CSU was nationally-ranked every week of the 2017 season, rising as high as #8 in the nation.

Flagler had their best season ever as a part of the Peach Belt in 2017, finishing with a 16-3-2 overall record and setting a school record for wins in a season.  The Saints advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time and won their first game, 3-0 over Limestone in the opening round. Flagler cracked the United Soccer Coaches top 25 poll on Sept. 12 of last year and were nationally ranked in every poll afterward, rising as high as #5 in the nation. 

The PBC coaches preseason poll will be released later in August.  Regular-season games begin on Aug. 30.
