JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010, the UNC Pembroke soccer team held possession for the majority of the overtime period before Queens found the back of the net on a free kick from 22-yards out with 3.7 ticks on the clock to win 1-0 and advance to the round-of-32.

-The day's first shot on goal came in the 10th-minute when UNCP's Stacey Scott flicked a header toward the net off a free kick, but Queens keeper Rachel Quest made a two-handed save.
-Queens responded with its first shot on net in the 1th-minute, but Black & Gold netminder Gina Ryan logged her first save with ease.
-Each goalie made two more stops in the opening stanza, including Quest's save on Alexis Pittman in the 43rd-minute. Pittman's rebound settled down in the box for a few seconds before a Royals' defender cleared it away.
-Queens outshot the Braves 9-4 in the first 45 minutes and took four corner kicks to UNCP's two.

-After Gina Ryan made a pair of saves in the first three minutes of overtime, the Braves maintained possession for the majority period and fired a trio of shots, including one that Quest leaped and knocked away and one that clanged off the right post.
-In a last ditch effort, Queens moved the ball down the left side of the field with under a minute to play and UNCP was whistled for a foul just outside the box with under 15 seconds on the clock. The head referee ordered the clock to stop with 5.7 ticks left, which allowed Thea Mallett to step up and bang home the free kick.

-Queens logged 17 total shots (eight on goal), while UNCP attempted 13 shots, including seven on goal.
-Pittman and Scott each unleashed a team-high four shots, while five other Braves notched one each.
-Gina Ryan made seven saves in net for UNCP and finishes her sophomore season with a 0.53 goals against average and a .892 save percentage.
-The Braves were making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament, but lose for the first time in the opening round.
-This season marked the third time in program history that the Braves have won at least 15 games (2008, 2010).
