COLUMBUS, Ga. – Charlene Nowotny scored a pair of goals to lift No. 19 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College to a 3-0 win over Limestone College in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament Friday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex.

Flagler improved to 16-2-2 overall while Limestone, the champions of Conference Carolinas, ended its season with a 17-3-1 record. Flagler will move on to face No. 10 Columbus State University in a second round match on Sunday (Nov. 12) at 1 p.m. This will be the third meeting between these two teams this season.

After a scoreless first half, Nowotny scored the first of her two goals in the 68th minute. Fio Fustagno sent a cross pass into the box and Nowotny tapped home the goal to give the Saints of Flagler the early lead.

Nearly eight minutes later (76'), Nowotny knocked in a ball that Limestone keeper Veronica Smeltzer had punched away.

Flagler added a late tally when Addie Foster put in a pass from Abby Austin with 1-minute and 30-seconds left on the clock.

Sarah-Lisa Dubel turned in her eighth clean sheet of the season with five saves. She tied the Division II-era record for most shutouts in a season (Hope McArthur, 2007). Smeltzer had nine saves for the Saints of Limestone.

Both teams took 17 shots and Limestone held a slight 7-6 advantage in corner kicks. Limestone was whistled for 12-of-the-16 fouls in the match. Limestone played the final 15:24 playing one-man down due to Emma Hickson picking up her second yellow card of the match.

NOTE: Flagler won its first NCAA Division II Tournament match since becoming eligible in 2009.
