GREENWOOD - Lander women's soccer coach Chris Ayer has announced
the signing of 14 student-athletes who will join the Bearcats for
the 2009 season. The list includes players from South Carolina,
North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Illinois.
"We are very excited to welcome this group to the Bearcat Family,"
said Ayer. "The 2009 recruiting class will add some much-needed
depth. It will increase the inter-squad competition, which will put
us in a position to take the program to another level.
"This class has players who cover our positional needs as well as
improving our skill level. There are a number of players who can
make an immediate impact. The competition level should improve the
program from top to bottom."
According to Ayer, who is entering his fourth season as the Lady
Bearcats coach, this year's recruiting class is as honored in the
classroom as it is on the field.
