UM's Beck, GC's Fox Named PBC Golfers of the Week

Women’s Golfer of the Week: Ashlee Beck, Montevallo

Beck finished in fifth place at the season-opening Smokey Mountain Intercollegiate.  The junior from Athens, Ala., fired rounds of 75 and 72 to finish three-over-par 147.  Beck was just one stroke out of fourth place and five stroke behind the leader.  Her even-par second-round score of 72 is the lowest round in the PBC through the first week of play.  The Player of the Week honor is the second in Beck’s career, she received her first honor during her freshman season in 2011-12.

Men’s Golfer of the Week: Bryan Fox, Georgia College

Fox took on a Division I field at the Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate, firing a one-under score good enough for a 12th place finish among the 65-golfer field. The senior from Roswell, Ga., started with a 76, then rebounded in a big way with two sub-par rounds of 68 and 71 to climb to 12th. The Bobcats finished ninth as a team.  Fox is currently third in the PBC with a 71.3 stroke average and is the only PBC player in the top 10 to play in three rounds in their opening tournament.  His second-round 68 is also the second-lowest single round in the PBC so far.
