UNCP Adds Gallimore to Women's Basketball Signing Class

PEMBROKE – Asheboro native Megan Gallimore signed her name to a national letter of intent to become the fifth member of the 2009 signing class for the UNCP women’s basketball team, announced head coach John Haskins Tuesday morning.

As a senior center at Asheboro High School coached by Don Corry, Gallimore helped lead the Comets to a turnaround 15-12 record while averaging 12.0 points, 14.0 assists and 5.0 assists per game. For her contributions, she was named team MVP while earning all-county and all-conference honors.

During her junior year at Asheboro, she was a part of coach Dee Hodgin’s team that went 4-20 on the season despite contributing 16.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. She was named player of the year and earned all-county and all-conference laurels.

“We are excited that Megan has decided to join our program. She has excellent size and is very skilled,” said Haskins. “Megan posts strong, has excellent hands, and is a very good passer. “She can score both on the block and coming away and facing the basket. We look forward to Megan making a big contribution to our program over the next four years.”

Gallimore will make significant contributions in the classroom as well as on the court as she graduated 63rd in her class of 245 with a GPA of 4.0. Gallimore was a member of Key Club, Spanish Club and the Future Business Leaders of America.

The daughter of All and Laura Eubanks has three siblings; Jason, Josh and Carrisa. Gallimore, who also lettered in volleyball, will enroll in pre-major studies at UNCP in the fall.
