AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken head softball
coach Jerry Snyder announced the addition of three more to his
2009-10 signing class on Tuesday, June 16.
“We are very excited about the recruiting class we have
coming in,” said Snyder. “We think all of the players
will compete for playing time as well as add needed depth at every
position.”
The three players join five others who are committed to play for
USC Aiken next season. The three newcomers join Amanda Hernandez
(Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge HS), Brandy Bossle (Northeast,
Md./Rising Sun HS), Nicole Borden (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles
School), Kelley King (Chesterfield, S.C./Chesterfield HS) and
Lindsey Jones (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta HS).
Blair Warren comes to USCA from Florence Darlington Technical
College in Florence, S.C. where she played first and caught for
Heber Watson.
“Blair is an athlete that can play any position on the field
including pitching,” said Snyder. “She will play first
base for us. She is a strong athletic player that has a good arm
and is a very good hitter.”
Hayley Justice played outfield for Pacer Alum Michelle Yeater at
Midland Valley High School in Graniteville, S.C.
“Haley is a very talented outfielder,” remarked Snyder.
“She has good speed, a strong arm and she hits with
power.”
Kristian Pickrel played third base for newly inducted USCA Hall of
Famer Jami Cornwell at Hannah-Pamplico High School in Pamplico,
S.C.
“Kristian has that ‘No Fear’ attitude it takes to
play third base at this level,” noted Snyder. “She has
a strong arm, good speed and also swings the bat well.”
The 2009 USC Aiken softball team finished one of the best seasons
in program history ranked a program-best 12th in the final National
Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 poll of
2009.
The first Pacer squad to participate in the NCAA Division II
Tournament, USC Aiken ended the 2009 campaign with a 34-16 record.
