13 Softball Players Named NFCA All-Region

STARKVILLE, MISS -- 13 Peach Belt Conference softball players were named to the Southeast All-Region team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Nine of those players were named to the first team and will be eligible for All-America honors.

North Georgia, ranked #1 in the nation, placed four on the All-Region team with Sarah Phillips, Courtey McGuire, Pilar Harden and Leslee Smith all being named to the first team. Also named first team were GCSU's Mandy Chandler and Sherquita Bostick, USC Aiken's Jessica Strickland, Augusta State's Kacee Camp and UNC Pembroke's Jelena Shaw.

Named to the second team were Toni Flessate of USCA, Nicole Huddleston of Armstrong Atlantic State, ASU's Jessica Thornton and Francis Marion's Michaela Wolf.

In all, 26 players from the southeast region were recognized with 13 each on first and second teams. The NFCA All-America team will be announced prior to the start of the DII World Series in Salem, Va.
