Nine PBC Softball Players Named to Daktronics All-Region Team

AUGUSTA, GA -- Nine Peach Belt Conference softball players have been named to the Daktronics Southeast All-Region team, including the region Pitcher and Player of the Year. The 26-member team is headlined by Sarah Phillips of North Georgia who was named the Pitcher of the Year and GCSU’s Sherquita Bostick, the Player of the Year. The Daktronics team was selected by Sports Information Directors from the PBC, Conference Carolinas and the South Atlantic Conference.

Phillips has posted a record of 35-1, winning a national best 32 consecutive games, and posting an earned run average of 1.03. She threw a no-hitter to claim the Regional Championship, claiming MVP honors in the Peach Belt Conference and Southeast Region Tournaments. The sophomore has 230 strikeouts in 232.0 innings and recorded 12 complete-game shutouts.

Bostick became the first PBC player ever to receive the league’s Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons. A senior, she hit .368 and led the league with 13 home runs and six triples while being ranked in the top five in runs scored, RBIs, slugging and hits. She was also named the 2008 PBC Tournament Most Valuable Player and an NFCA second-team All-American.
