Seven PBC Men's Tennis Teams to Play in NCAA Tournament

A record seven PBC men's tennis teams learned late Wednesday that they will compete for the NCAA National Championship as the field was announced from Indianapolis. Armstrong Atlantic State and Georgia College & State University will each host a Southeast sub-regional the weekend of May 7-9. They are two of 16 first- and second-round sites in the eight regions across the nation. Winners from each of the 16 sub-regionals will advance to the National Finals May 13-16 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Armstrong Atlantic State is the top seed in the region overall and will serve as a site host once again. The defending national champions will host the winner of #8 Augusta State vs. #9 Lander. Also in the PBC-heavy sub-regional are #5 Francis Marion, who will take on 12th-seeded Mars Hill in the first round. The winner of that match will meet #4 USC Aiken in the second round. Specific game times have yet to be determined.

GCSU will host a sub-regional for the firs time in school history. The second-seeded Bobcats will face the winner of the Limestone/Lees-McRae match. Columbus State is the #3 overall seed and will meet the Anderson/Wingate winner in the second round. Again, game times are yet to be determined.
