Cruickshank Aces Hole, Cougars Finish Second
KILLEN, Ala. - For the second straight day, it was a hole in one that stole the show for the Columbus State University golf program, as the Cougars grabbed a runner-up finish Tuesday at the TVA CCU Invitational. The tournament was played at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club.
Cole Cruickshank carded the ace on the par-3 10th hole for his first collegiate hole in one. It comes one day after Selina Budde did the same thing for the CSU women's team.
Columbus State shot 2-under par 286 to wrap up play on Tuesday with a team total of 865.
Jacksonville State (848) rolled to the victory with three consecutive rounds under par. Arkansas Tech (867), North Alabama (870) and Appalachian State (883) rounded out the top five.
Cruickshank shot even par on Tuesday to register the first top 10 of his collegiate career. The junior was 1-under overall in ninth place. Jordan Duoll tied for 10th overall behind a 1-under 71 in the final round.
Preston Wagaman had the low Cougar round of the day at 3-under 69. He ended in 14th place at 3-over through 54 holes.
Ronan Kleu carded a 74 and tied for 19th overall, while Duncan van der Vyver shot 78 and finished in 28th.
Columbus State is off to Miami next Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Miami Intercollegiate hosted by Nova Southeastern at Doral Golf Resort.
Norrman Third, Hurricanes Fifth at Copperhead Championship
INNISBROOK, Fla. -- The Georgia Southwestern men's golf team closed out the fall portion of their schedule as Vincent Norrman took home a third place finish, carding a -7 par 206 (67-68-71) in individuals to cap the Copperhead Championship. Lander finished in 12thplace in the 16-team field.
Norrman now has two top five finishes this season as he also surpassed his previous scoring record finish (207), which he carded at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational.
Ryan Cahill landed a top 20 finish, going par over 3, 216 (74-70-72) for a tied 18th place. Tyler Barker finished tied for 32nd place as he carded a +6 par 219 (76-69-74) as Cole Madisontied for 63rd place with scores of 75, 73 and 80 for a +15 par, 228 card. Elias Birkeland closed for the Hurricanes as he shot +22 par 235 (78-74-83) for a tied 78th finish.
No. 47 GSW finished in fifth place with +17 par 869 (292-290-297) while No. 1 Barry took home first place, shooting -18 par 834 (274-280-280). No. 24 West Florida carded a +6 par 858 for second place, Queen's University of Charlotte (864) and No.3 Florida Tech (866) were the top finishers for the Copperhead Championship.
Jon Parker was Lander's top performer, finishing tied for 32nd with a 6-over par 219 on the week. Maxime Legros and Michael Brodie each finished one stroke back to tie for 35th. Conor Cull tied for 52nd and Rahul Ajay tied for 80th.
In individuals, West Florida's Christian Bosso won the tournament, shooting par under 10, 203 (65-70-68). Barry's Tyler Bakich and Conor Richards took home second and fourth place, shooting -8 par 205 and -5 par 208, respectively. Dan Bradbury of Lincoln Memorial finished in fifth place as he carded a 4 under par 209.
