Shida fired an eight-under-par 208 to finish second at the SpringHill Suites Intercollegiate this week. The senior from Duluth, Ga., finished just one stroke out of the lead in the tournament, which featured 13 Division I teams and two Division II teams (GCSU and USCA). Shida shot a two-under-par 70 in the first round and then went even lower with a 68 in the second round and another 70 in the third. His third-round effort almost got him into a tie with UT-Chattanooga's Chris Robb, who opened with a 66 but shot a 72 in the final round. Shida's effort helped propel GCSU, ranked #6 in the nation, to the huge win as they blitzed the field, winning by 18 strokes over UTC and 24 strokes in front of third-place Furman. Though early in the season, Shida leads the PBC with a 70.4 stroke average and four of his five rounds have been under par. He finished third at last week's Kiawah Island Invitational.
