USC Aiken senior right-handers Connor Riley and Nick Yobbi combined on a two-hitter and the 13th-ranked and second-seeded Pacers made three first-inning runs stand up for a 3-2 win over seventh-seeded Lander University, Wednesday afternoon (May 10) in the second game of the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Baseball Tournament.

USCA (39-11) advances to face third-seeded Georgia College in a winners' bracket game on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., while the Bearcats (21-30) will meet sixth-seeded Flagler College in an elimination game on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Riley (6-2) allowed both runs on two hits in 5.2 innings, while fanning nine and walking five.  Yobbi retired all 10 batters he faced to earn his third save of 2017.

Lander senior righty Cameron Tekker (5-2) went the distance and suffered the tough-luck loss.  He surrendered three runs on seven hits, while striking out five.

Three of the first four Pacer batters in the bottom of the first registered base hits and scored. Right fielder Nile Goings singled in the first tally and when the outfield throw was wild a second run scored.  Going also advanced all the way to third on the play and scored when catcher Brian Parreira doubled off the right field wall.

Goings finished 3-for-4, while Parreira was 2-for-4.

Lander immediately got one run back in the top of the second. Designated hitter Reed Gray was hit by a pitch with two outs, moved to second on a walk, and scored on center fielder Alec Dowell's RBI-single through the right side.

Bearcat first baseman Nathan Schreckengost narrowed the margin to 3-2 with a solo homer over the right field wall to lead off the fourth frame.  The 363-foot blast was his 14th long ball of the season.
