Five Peach Belt Baseball Teams Ranked in Preseason Top 40

TUSCON, ARIZ – Five Peach Belt Conference baseball teams will begin the 2014 season with national rankings as the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released their preseason poll.  USC Aiken has the highest rank of any PBC team at #14 in the poll while Lander comes in at #20.  UNC Pembroke is 23rd with Georgia College 32nd and Montevallo 33rd.

Francis Marion, Armstrong and Columbus State also received votes in the poll.

Once again the Peach Belt has more ranked teams than any other conference in the nation.  Only the California Collegiate Athletic Association comes close with four teams ranked in the poll; three other conferences have three ranked teams.

USC Aiken finished the 2013 season ranked #12 in the nation.  Lander was 23rd, UNC Pembroke 27th and Georgia College 21st in that final poll.

The PBC coaches preseason poll will be released later in January. The 2014 season begins on Saturday, Feb. 1.
