USCA's Aranas and Tankersley, CSU's Leibrandt Receive Baseball Weekly Honors

Player of the Week

Nick Aranas, USC Aiken
Sr. • OF • Lexington, S.C.

Aranas led the Pacers with a .529 batting average last week, driving in nine runs and scoring five. He had four extra-base hits on two doubles and two home runs for a 1.000 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage. In USC Aiken's second game win over Flagler, Aranas was a perfect 5-for-5.  He had back-to-back home runs in the game, including a grand slam.  His five hits tied a school record and his eight RBIs set a new school single game standard in the category.  Currently fourth in the PBC in RBIs and slugging percentage, sixth inhome runs and eighth in batting average.

Pitcher of the Week

Brodie Leibrandt, Columbus State
Jr. • LHP • Alpharetta, Ga.

Leibrant tossed his second complete-game shutout of the season as he blanked Montevallo.  The junior allowed only four hits and one walk while striking out five.  He set down the side in order three times, including the seventh and eighth innings, and allowed baserunners to reach second only twice in the entire game. Leibrandt is now tied for second in the league with six victories, tops the league in innings pitched and complete games, is seventh in ERA and is tied for 10th in strikeouts.

Freshman of the Week

Will Tankersley, USC Aiken
Fr. • OF • Thomson, Ga.

Tankersley hit .368 with a homer and four RBIs in four games for the #3 Pacers, slugging .632 with five runs scored.  He had multiple hits in three of the four games, including a 3-for-5 day against Augusta State with an RBI.  He had two hits in the second and third games at Flagler, hitting a home run in the third game as he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.  The freshman is now sixth in the PBC in slugging percentage and is ranked in the league's top 15 in doubles and home runs.
