MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- A new wrinkle in this year’s annual Georgia College & State University Athletic Alumni Weekend was the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) 3K Race, benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Headed by the Georgia College SAAC and advisor Ginger Chaffinch, the 3K race garnered donations from returning alumni, students, staff, faculty and community members, with all donations going straight to the foundation.

“Doing events like these are a way to give back to a community that supports us so well,” said men’s basketball’s Ken Kemp, president of the Georgia College SAAC. “Most of us are on scholarship, so it’s important for us to appreciate what we’re given and help those less fortunate.”

Founded in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has reached more than 160,000 children with life threatening medical conditions.

The Bobcat athletic department and SAAC would like to thank the following people for contributing to the cause: Steve Barsby, Ryan Barsby, Debbie Barsby, Patrick Schneider, Zachary Schneider, Lizzie Digioranni, Ashley Digioranni, Lee Digoranni, Steven Boatright, Wanda Aldridge, Rachael Jackson, Corey Hopkins, Alicia Woolwine, Bertille Lion, Shelbie Lindsey, Kelley Fleischmann, John Semeraro, Kristina Giles, Carsten Mlady, Katie Linke, Ginger Chaffinch, Chris Chaffinch, Joey Wilson, Jared Luke, Joe Samprone, Patti Samprone, and Jerry Fly.
